Legendary performers Kool & The Gang bring their “Keepin’ The Funk Alive: Funk Fest Celebration” to Starlight Theatre on Saturday, August 6.

Known for high-energy dance tunes like “Jungle Boogie,” “Ladies Night” and “Celebration,” Kool & The Gang’s feel-good music is guaranteed to make an audience get up and dance.

Started in 1964 by brothers Robert “Kool” Bell and Ronald “Khalis” Bell, Kool & The Gang is celebrating more than 50 years of making music. With 25 Top-50 R&B singles and 12 Top-10 pop hits, including the smash hit “Celebration” that topped the Billboard R&B and pop charts at No. 1 for six and two weeks, respectively, the group is credited with laying the foundation for dance music as we enjoy it today.

Kool & The Gang’s appeal continues, as they opened for Van Halen on tour in 2012 and Kid Rock in 2013. The band is recognized as having some of the most-sampled tracks in pop and hip-hop music, with fellow legends like Madonna and Miles Davis sampling their hit “Jungle Boogie.”
