America´s Most Wanted Music Festival
A Perfect Rap to a Summer Concert Season
By Keisha Michelle
Starlight Theatre Monday, August 24th Kansas City
In a world where the validity of Hip Hop is constantly threatened by the Auto-Tune or songs that were strictly made to make people dance, its hard to put together a eclectic list of artists that can satisfy the masses, but this and more was accomplished with this years America´s Most Wanted Music Festival featuring Jerimih, Souljah Boy, Young Jeezy, and Lil Wayne at the Starlight Theatre. There was a little something in there for all races and every hip hop fan, even though hip-hop´s new rising star, Drake, was scheduled, but didn´t appear.
The weather was perfect, you´d only wish it was a weekend versus a Monday night. Upon entering the venue, the energy was all over the place, due to the traffic and security. After the late arrivals, over 5,000 people were in attendance. The performances were all spectacular. Well, we actually missed Jerimih perform—as “special guest” he actually went on prior to the 7pm concert showtime--but from what I´ve heard he was the perfect opening act, able to set the mood and get people ready for a pretty relaxed night. Soulja Boy was the second to perform and though this is my third time actually seeing him in concert, he never ceases to amaze me, his adrenaline is always pumping, and he seems to enjoy being in the spotlight and entertaining, he has never given a bad, low energy performance before and this time was no different.
